Where innovation meets excellence

The printing industry has evolved to a great extent from just handwritten or painted paper to printed sheets and papers. Just a few decades ago, 3-dimensional printing and drawing were just considered to be stories from science fiction. But with the advancement of technology, humans achieved that milestone too. Today printing has gone to a whole new other level and this era has witnessed the innovation of 3D printing. 3D printing is a process in which material is joined or solidified under computer control to create a three-dimensional object. In the 3D printing process, a binder material is deposited onto a powder bed with inkjet printer heads layer by layer.

3D printing is used both in rapid prototyping as well as additive manufacturing (AM). One can create 3D structures and models of desired shapes and dimensions with the help gadgets like 3D printers, 3D pens and many more. 3D printing can be done with the help of various technologies like stereolithography (STL) or fused deposit modeling (FDM). Therefore in 3D printing, a three-dimensional object is constructed with the help of CAD or Computer Aided Design via a 3D scanner. 3D scanning is a process in which digital data is collected from an object and transformed into a digital model of that object.

Before printing a 3D model from an STL file, it must be examined for errors like holes, faces normal, self-intersections, noise shells and manifold errors. The errors can be fixed and after that, the STL file is processed by an instrument called the slicer which converts the model into a series of thin layers and produces a G-code file containing instructions of a specific type of 3D printer. Then this G-code file is printed with 3D printing client software (which loads the G-code and uses it to instruct the 3D printer during the 3D printing process). The end result is a three dimensional model from the 3D printer.

Today 3D printing has expanded its territories of application in various fields like manufacturing, medical, automobile, and many more industries. One such is 3D printing of household things. Although in today’s date, 3D printers are not that popular in homes but they have been successful in creating various household items like shower heads, bottle openers, planters, pen holders, desk organizers, measuring cups, citrus juicers, chip clips, candle holders, vases, doorstops and many more. 3D printers have given the common folks a platform to shape their imagination into reality and no doubt that with the passing years printing methods will evolve further and do the incredible.

Various software used for 3D printing are Ultimaker Cura 3D, Thinker CAD, 3D Slash, 3D Tin, Sketchup and many more.
